fingers fluttering
casting butterfly shadows on the moon
i showed you how much
stars kissing my knuckles
overwhelmed by your thickness
chest burning
for my heart to be ripped out
ready to die to
show you
how much
and you just looked
not getting it
impatient
to go inside
and get your coat to leave
my thoughts were like a bone scraped against concrete
etching desperate symbols to hold you
but you didn't believe
and were only slightly amused
so I gave up
hate waiting patiently
watched you walk away
as the moon disappeared behind the clouds
and I stood there
nowhere
wondering what it was
that had me so afraid of being alone
to love you
